I need to express a concern. Ever since I've started doing hot yoga I've had trouble having my pee be a clear color. It seems like no matter how much I drink, it's always yellowish. It's hard for me to drink water originally because I'm not a fan of the taste. I try my best to drink teas but I don't always have a kettle on hand. Bummers :( I've tried crystal light before but I end up diluting it 4 times more then in the instructions as it's way too sweet for me otherwise. The issue though are the artificial sugars in those mixes. I think I'll just have to stick it out and drink plain old water.
Action plan- surround myself with water bottles...
Exhibit A- water bottle at my study desk
Exhibit B- water bottle by my bed (I study sitting in my bed sometimes)
Exhibit C- cool vapur water bottle that I take everywhere with me (mainly the lab office)
Exhibit D- my tea container which doesn't count as much due to the caffeine content of the black and green teas that I drink
<and my camera decided to die on me at just the right moment!>
At the moment I'm hoping to get about 6-7 cups of decaffeinated liquids per day. I know it's not a lot but I used to not have a sip of water for weeks in the winter months as a kid. I'm a cactus, but at the moment a slightly dehydrated cactus!!!
The other thing I've been meaning to talk about is Maca. It is supposed to be an adaptogen meaning that it helps your body deal with stress, is supposed to increase your energy levels, and help with hormone balance. I've started taking it about a month ago so I've wanted to share my thoughts. The last month has been highly stressful for me so I was in dire need of something like maca. I'm not 100% sure how I would've felt if I didn't take it but I did survive through this period. I hope it did help my body cope but I still felt my typical stress symptoms- inability to sleep, lack of appetite, and bloating sensation. They definitely weren't bad this time around but I'm hesitant to Maca the credit. Energy wise I've been about the same and did feel tired when I got less then 5 hours of sleep. Hormone wise, my acne was the same but wasn't as bad around TOM. That was partially because I was using a lot of benzoyl peroxide as I needed my skin to be clear for the interviews. As for TOM itself, it was lighter... My period in general is light and I experience minimal PMS but this month it was lighter and I was nowhere near as bloated as I usually get. It was pretty much 95% painless or even discomfort less but that could've seemed so just because I was super busy. I really can't make much conclusions based on just one month though. I'll probably try it for a bit longer and see what happens. I've heard that Maca had no affect on a lot of people so I really don't want to be spending my money on something that might not work.
Lastly, I've been thinking of adding in some push-ups to my plank workout. Honestly, I'm pathetic at push ups but I think doing 20-30 girly ones will be a good start.
